The match started well with South Cave working hard to keep the ball. After seven Minutes David Tarbotton took a shot which was deflected to give the first goal 1-0, but the Lord Nelson team bounced back within five minutes as a high ball was lofted towards the back of the goal and easily headed in by their striker who was left unmarked. 1-1

The second half saw South Cave maintain more possession and fifteen minutes later a throw-in to Luke Duerden and a quality pass allowed Courtney Tarbotton to tap the ball home to bring the score to 2-1

On the hour, after a period of good play by the home team, David Tarbotton showed his skills again by chipping the keeper to give a final score of 3-1 to South Cave United.
