| Chairman's Report : |
This was the first game of 2008 and both players and fans were relishing the idea of travelling forty miles to Aldbrough on the East coast! As the morning frost lifted the pitch seemed to be in reasonable condition, but a bit on the small side. The match started well with a good period of attacking play by South Cave as Courtney Tarbotton pushed on the right wing. Unfortunately we did not take advantage of our shots on goal with several hitting the bar or being deflected for corners. South Cave tried a 3-5-2 formation but as we found to our cost the home team were able to use the small pitch and break through our midfield with a long ball leaving the defence no chance of covering. After twenty minutes the game turned when a corner against South Cave was nicely headed home by our own defender to give the lead to the opponents. This encouraged Aldbrough to attack with more confidence, with a final result of 3-1 to the home team. Tom Love scoring a consolation goal towards the end of the game. South Cave will definitely need to work on those corners! |
