Once again Matt Simpson bravely opted for the 3-5-2 formation in an attempt to consolidate the midfield. The game started well with Tom Love and Matt Simpson up front, Kieran Barmby and Courtney Tarbotton on the wings, Paul Rackham, Matt Friend and Ben Thornham held central midfield whilst Luke Duerden, and Ben Wilson made up the defence. Rob Zand was in goal.

South Cave held Howden to a draw in the first half with both teams having very few shots on goal. In the second half, with twenty minutes still to play Matt Simpson played his trump card and substituted Courtney Tarbotton for Rob Mooney on the right and Paul Rowe for Ben Wilson.

Five minutes later after a second yellow card, one of their players was shown the red for a last ditch tackle as South Cave ran into the box. The game was turning in our favour, and after a low cross from Rob Mooney there was a goalmouth scramble resulting in Matt Friend putting the ball away to give a 1-0 win.

Man of the match was Ben Wilson for a solid performance in defence.

Good result - But we still need to work on those corners!
